What is microsuction and how does it remove ear wax?
Microsuction ear wax removal is undertaken using a microscope and a medical suction device. A wand-type extension is fitted to the end of the suction tube, which allows Anne, our Ear Nurse, to gently remove the earwax from your canal.
Microsuction is the safest and most comfortable method of ear wax removal, no liquids are used during the procedure which means that there is no fuss or mess during the procedure. The fact that we can clearly see the ear canal and more importantly exactly what we are doing, makes it an exceptionally safe procedure. It is a comfortable process with the appointment normally taking no longer than 15 minutes.
What to expect when having ear wax removed?
Clients will be seen by Anne, our registered nurse and Ear Nurse. Before starting, Anne will explain what clients will experience and how the equipment works.
Totally in private, you will be asked to sit in a high backed chair and keep relaxed and still. You will then experience a tickling, light buzzing sensation whilst Anne steps you through the process and encourages you to communicate how you are feeling throughout. The procedure can be stopped at any time at your request.
